How to Read This Page
Pick a stat and a position, and the board lists the players on the slate whose opponent ranks poorly at defending it. The softness amount control sets how extreme the matchup has to be before it qualifies, expressed either as a count of defenses or as a percentile band depending on the display mode. The comparison pool can be narrowed to a tier so a national ranking does not flatter a mid-major matchup.

Glossary — Targets
TargetsEvery player whose team plays on this date, matched to how SOFT their opponent’s defense is at their position (G/F/C) for the selected stat. Built from the Defense-vs-Position board + the slate.
StatWhich per-game stat the matchup is graded on (PTS/REB/AST/3PM/3PA/STL/BLK/TO). SOFT + the colored allowance follow the pick.
SelfThe player’s own season per-game value for the selected stat — the opportunity side (a big scorer into a soft PTS defense is the actionable cell). 3PA/g isn’t in the season line, so it shows “—”.
All (Opp Allowed)The raw per-game value the opponent gives up to this position for the selected stat — “bottom-10 in points allowed” lives here.
SOFTThe opponent’s softness percentile at this position + stat vs the Compare-vs pool — 100 = softest (allows the most), 0 = stingiest. Green = good matchup. Rank mode shows #rank/pool-size. TO is inverted (forcing more = tougher).
TeamFilter to players on a given team level (High / Mid / Low-Major) — the PLAYER’s own team, not the opponent. Pair with Compare vs to ask e.g. “high-major players vs soft mid-major defenses.”
Compare vsThe one pool the opponent’s softness is ranked against — All D-I, or a tier (high/mid/low-major defenses). Always the OPPONENT’s defense pool; opponents outside the chosen tier show “—”.
Softness (Softest / Toughest + amount)Keep only one end of the pool. Softest = the best matchups, Toughest = the stingiest. The amount follows the display toggle: in Rank mode it’s a COUNT of defenses (e.g. Softest 10 = the 10 worst at that stat); in Values mode it’s a PERCENTILE band (e.g. Softest 10% = the softest decile).
DEF RTG / PACEThe opponent’s team-whole defensive rating (pts allowed / 100 poss, lower = better) and pace (possessions / 40); both tint green when favorable — weak defense, fast pace.
Min MPGHide players under N minutes per game (drops deep-bench / walk-ons so the board stays actionable).
WindowThe span the opponent’s allowance is measured over: Season, last 15, or last 7 team games.
About the NCAAB Targets board
The slate matchup finder: which players tonight face a defense that is soft at their position for a given stat. It answers a question like "guards against the defenses giving up the most points" in one step.

The comparison pool can be narrowed to a tier so a national ranking does not flatter a mid-major matchup.
Where the numbers come from
A join of three things already on the site: the schedule, the Defense vs Position allowances for each defending team, and the players leaderboard for role and minutes. Nothing is modeled — it is a filter over measured allowances.
Who it's for
For college research and DFS, where the number of games makes manual matchup hunting impractical. The minutes filter is worth setting first; a great matchup for a player who plays eleven minutes is not a usable one.
What the College basketball stats mean
GP / MPGGames played and minutes per game.
REB CHCRebound chances — rebounds that were actually available to a player, not just the ones he grabbed. Useful for separating opportunity from result.
POT ASTPotential assists — passes that would have been assists if the shot had gone in. Measures playmaking without punishing a teammate’s miss.
