Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how TheRundown.GG (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website at therundown.gg and any related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and any name or username you provide. Authentication is handled by Clerk.
• Contact submissions. When you use our contact form, we store the name, email, topic, and message you submit so we can respond and improve the product.
• Usage data. We log basic technical information about how you use the Service, including pages visited, timestamps, browser type, and an anonymized hash of your IP address. We do not store raw IP addresses associated with submissions.
• Cookies and similar technologies. See the Cookies section below for exactly what we set and why. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not sell personal information.

We set only first-party cookies. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and no third party sets cookies through our pages for advertising purposes.

Strictly necessary — these are required for the site to work, so they are set without asking:

• Authentication (__session, __client_uat, __clerk_db_jwt, clerk_active_context) — set by Clerk, our authentication provider, so you can sign in and stay signed in.
• Visitor identifier (rg_anon) — a random first-party identifier, valid one year. It has no name, email, or account attached. We use it to apply rate limits fairly and to prevent abuse, and — only with your agreement — to count usage.
• Your cookie choice (rg_consent) — records the decision you make below, so we stop asking.

Functional — your own settings, kept so the site does not reset every time you open it:

• nfl_slate_phase, plus preferences stored in your browser’s local storage such as visible columns, sort order, and saved filter recipes. These never leave your device except when you are signed in and choose to sync them across your devices.

Analytics — requires your agreement:

• We record which pages are viewed and which features are used, tied to the anonymous identifier above rather than to you personally. This tells us which boards people actually use. If you decline, we record nothing.

If you are in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, analytics stays off until you accept. Elsewhere it is on by default and you may turn it off at any time. Either way you can change your decision whenever you like using the Cookie preferences link in the footer of every page, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
• Authenticate your account and protect against fraud and abuse;
• Respond to your support requests and communicate with you about your account;
• Analyze aggregate usage to improve features and content;
• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us operate the Service, including:

• Clerk — authentication and account management;
• Vercel — web hosting and analytics;
• Amazon Web Services — database and infrastructure;
• Resend — transactional email delivery;
• Service providers that help us with billing if you subscribe to a paid plan.

We may also share information when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of TheRundown.GG, our users, or others.

We retain account information for as long as your account is active. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 24 months for support and quality purposes. Usage logs are typically retained for up to 90 days. You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing support@therundown.gg.

• You can update or delete your account information at any time from your account settings.
• You can opt out of non-essential emails using the unsubscribe link in those messages. Account-related emails (security, billing) cannot be disabled while your account is active.
• You can disable cookies in your browser, though some Service features may not function properly without them.

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit, hashed credentials, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Service is operated from the United States. If you access it from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from your jurisdiction.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
