Reading the Table

Each row is a probable starter. The stat columns describe how he misses bats; the OPP columns describe how strikeout-prone today's opponent is.

  • K% / Whiff% / CSW% / SwStr% — the pitcher's strikeout, whiff, called+swinging-strike, and swinging-strike rates for the selected window. This is the pitcher axis — how good he is at missing bats.
  • OPP K-RANK / OPP K% — how much the opposing lineup strikes out (rank 1 = most strikeout-prone). A favorable matchup pairs a high-K pitcher with a high-K opponent.
  • Lineup K — a grade of how exploitable today's specific 1–9 is for strikeouts, given the pitcher's best pitches. This is the opponent axis, separate from K%: read K% for the arm, Lineup K for the spot. A weak-K pitcher against a genuinely K-prone lineup still grades high. Runs 0–100, with most spots landing ~15–82; 50 = league-average — red is a tough strikeout matchup, green a soft one. ● = confirmed lineup, ◐ = projected. Follows the window filter (L7/L15/L30 use a recent-form read; L60/Season use the full year).
  • K Targets — how many bats in tonight's lineup are genuine strikeout targets for him, out of the whole lineup. It is a plain count, so six borderline targets and six severe ones read the same here. Lineup K is the column that weighs how vulnerable each bat is, which is why it can rank five deep targets above six shallow ones. Read K Targets for how many, Lineup K for how bad. Open a row to see which bats they are.

  • Recent starts — last 3 / 5 / 10 / season starts with K / BB / ER / ERA
  • vs RHH / vs LHH splits — K%, Whiff%, CSW%, SwStr% for the chosen window
  • Lineup Read — the batter-by-batter version of Lineup K: each hitter's tier (K Target / Lean / Average / Low K), a 0–100 matchup Score, his season K%, his K pitch, and the overlap-vs-league edges (whiff / chase / putaway…). The K-pitch cell is the scored pitch (putaway-based); when a hitter's nastiest swing-and-miss pitch is a different one, it shows as a small whf line below — flavor, not scored. Sortable — tap any header. K Target rows are tinted so the soft bats pop. Toggle to a Full Team view or to that team's recent games.

Rank mode: #1 = the most strikeout-prone offense in the league (best matchup).(highest rate → the best matchup for the pitcher); the higher the number, the tougher the offense. Ranked out of all 30 teams. With vs Hand selected, each team is ranked across the league vs that same hand (its rank vs RHP or vs LHP).

About the MLB Pitchers board

▶

The starting pitcher board for the slate: strikeout outlook, pitch arsenal, and the specific lineup each arm has to work through. It treats a start as a matchup against nine hitters rather than a single season-long rate.

How to read it

Strikeout columns describe how often a pitcher misses bats and how that projects against the order he faces, with the per-batter read available underneath. Arsenal detail breaks a pitcher into his individual pitches — usage, velocity and results — so a fastball-heavy start against a lineup that punishes fastballs reads differently from the same pitcher’s season line. Velocity drift markers flag an arm throwing harder or softer than his own baseline.
