Points are the vote itself: every ballot awards 25 down to 1, so the gap between two teams says how close it was in a way the ranks cannot. First-place votes can sit with a team that is not leading, which is the shape of a split. Move counts places since the previous release of the same poll, and NEW marks a team entering rather than rising. Which polls a season carries changes week to week, so the list is built from what was published.
