Defenses leads, because the question this board gets opened with is who is soft near the goal line. TD is offensive scoring only — run in plus caught — and always a season total rather than a per-game rate, with the games column beside it. Passing sits apart and is never folded into a scorer’s total, since every thrown touchdown is also somebody else’s catch; against a defense the two are one play, so that side carries a single passing column.
