How to read this page
Pick a stat and a position, and the board lists the players in action whose opponent gives up the most of it. SOFT is how easy that opponent is: 0 to 100 where 100 is the easiest, or a rank where #1 is the easiest. Show only sets how extreme the matchup has to be before it qualifies, and the group a defense is ranked against can be narrowed to one level so a national ranking does not flatter a mid-major matchup.

Glossary — Targets
TargetsEvery player whose team is in action on this date, next to how much his opponent gives up to players at his position — guard, forward or center — for the stat you picked.
StatThe stat the matchup is judged on. Everything colored on the board follows this pick.
SelfWhat the player himself averages in a game at that stat. A big scorer against a defense that gives up a lot of points is the row worth finding. Three-point attempts are not in the season line, so that one reads as a dash.
ALL (the opponent column)What the opponent gives up at that stat, per game, to players at this position.
SOFTHow easy the opponent is at this position and stat, measured inside the group you chose. In Numbers it runs 0 to 100 and 100 is the easiest; in Ranks it reads #1 of 350 and #1 is the easiest. Green is the good matchup. Turnovers read the other way, because forcing more of them is good defense.
Team levelKeep only players from high-major, mid-major or low-major programs. This is the player’s OWN team, not his opponent, so you can ask for high-major players against easy mid-major defenses.
Ranked againstThe group the opponent’s defense is measured inside — every Division I team, or only the defenses at one level. An opponent outside the group you chose reads as a dash.
Show only (Easiest / Hardest)Keep just one end of that group. In Ranks the number is a count of defenses, so Easiest 10 is the ten that give up the most. In Numbers it is a share of the group, so Easiest 10% is the easiest tenth of it.
DEF RTG / PACEThe opponent’s points given up per 100 trips down the floor, and how many trips it plays in 40 minutes. Both turn green when they help the player: a defense that gives up a lot, played fast.
Min minutesHide anyone who plays fewer than this many minutes a game, so a great matchup for a deep reserve does not lead the board.
How many gamesHow far back the opponent’s numbers are measured: the whole season, or its last 15 or 7 games.

The slate matchup finder: which players tonight face a defense that is soft at their position for a given stat. It answers a question like "guards against the defenses giving up the most points" in one step.
