Matchup Board

Per-player matchup advantage vs the Week 1 opponent — talent meeting a soft spot (efficiency) and opportunity meeting a bleeding defense (volume), fused into one 0–100 read. Two-sided: brutal spots read as red. The spotlight tags say why. Previewing the 2026 schedule on 2025 stats.

How to Read This Page

What the columns mean and how to read them
▶

Rows pair a player with his opponent for the week and score how that defense has handled his role. Read it as a comparison between the defense and its peers, not as a projection of what the player will do — a defense ranked poorly against a position is a description of what it has allowed, and the player still has to be on the field for it to matter.

Overall is a transparent 0–100 rollup of the visible edges (a sort key + heat, not a forecast), point-in-time as of Week 1. NULL rows are “building” (thin sample). The env total is kept separate from advantage on purpose — a visible multiplier, not baked in.

About the NFL Matchups board

A player-versus-defense board for the week: every skill player set against the specific defense he faces, rather than against the league as a whole.

How to read it

Rows pair a player with his opponent for the week and score how that defense has handled his role. Read it as a comparison between the defense and its peers, not as a projection of what the player will do — a defense ranked poorly against a position is a description of what it has allowed, and the player still has to be on the field for it to matter.

Where the numbers come from

Player usage and defensive concessions are aggregated over a season-and-week window and joined onto the schedule for the displayed week. When a week has not been played yet, the board pairs the upcoming schedule with the most recent completed season, and it says which season the numbers come from.

Who it's for

For weekly lineup decisions where the question is who has the friendliest assignment rather than who is the best player.
