How to Read This Page

What the columns mean and how to read them
▶

Players are listed in overall order, and the position column gives the rank within that position, which is usually the more useful of the two: a receiver taken twelfth overall and one taken fortieth are the same decision only if you ignore how many receivers are gone. Tier groups players by where the board actually breaks rather than every ten names — a gap much larger than the typical one starts a new tier, so a tier boundary marks a real drop in quality rather than a round number. Sorting by tier is the fastest way to see how many players are left in the group you are picking from. Filter by position to read a single position straight down.

About NFL Draft Rankings

A single draft board for the season — every relevant player in one order, with positional ranks and the tiers the board naturally breaks into.

How to read it

Players are listed in overall order, and the position column gives the rank within that position, which is usually the more useful of the two: a receiver taken twelfth overall and one taken fortieth are the same decision only if you ignore how many receivers are gone. Tier groups players by where the board actually breaks rather than every ten names — a gap much larger than the typical one starts a new tier, so a tier boundary marks a real drop in quality rather than a round number. Sorting by tier is the fastest way to see how many players are left in the group you are picking from. Filter by position to read a single position straight down.

Where the numbers come from

Rankings are rebuilt regularly through the preseason and again each week, and the board reflects the most recent complete update rather than a partial one. Positional ranks and tiers are derived from the same ordering, so they can never disagree with it. Tier boundaries come from the spacing between players rather than a fixed group size, which is why tiers get wider deeper in the board — the further down you go, the less confidently anyone can separate one player from the next.

Who it's for

For draft preparation and for in-season decisions that hinge on where a player actually sits. The tiers matter more than the exact number: knowing three players are left in a tier tells you whether to take one now or wait a round.
